bewitchingbritain:   The Forest of Dean is a 110 square kilometre (42.5 sq mi) area of ancient woodland in western Gloucestershire, England, that is quite obviously magical. The Puzzlewood region inspired J.R.R.Tolkien’s Middle-earth in The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, J.K. Rowling’s Deathly Hallows contains a scene set in the Forest of Dean, which served as the Forbidden Forest in the first two films; and Doctor Who and Merlin episodes have been filmed here as well. There are, obviously, Ents, Giants, unicorns, werewolves, and Acromantulas lurking about but this merely adds to the ambiance. (image cinderfordbrassband.uk.co)

There is one red house on this little piece of land in Newquay (a harbour town in Cornwall, England) and it is only connected to the mainland by that tiny bridge. Remember the nutter that tried to invade Sark?  (post from 26 October) This is the sort of Island he would go after too! And he would send the fellow living there a telegram a week ahead of time informing him of his dastardly plans. (bigaldavies on flickr)
